 About Reliance:

 Famous Mobile Carrier Reliance focuses on building all-time mobile network which aims at developing Reliance new generation digital network. It will integrate wireless and fixed network, transmitting audio, data and video signal at the same platform. This network will cover thousands of towns and villages, acting as the biggest telecommunications network. Founded in 1999, Reliance Infocomm is now the oldest CDMA network operator inIndia, offering comprehensive telecommunications service for Indian people. Reliance Infocomm successfully built and operated its first CDMA base station in 2001. In the following years, Reliance put great efforts in the construction of CDMA network, making its scale ranking the 4th all over the world now. According to statistics of Indian telecommunications department, in 2006, the increasing rate of Indian CDMA user number is 125%, greatly exceeded that of GSM (79%). At the same time, Reliance is also takes lead in GSM network construction in recent years.

 Application Background:

 Quick enlargement of CDMA and GSM network at the same time greatly increased the resource requirement of SDH transmitting network (include core net and gathering net). Built in the early phase of Reliance’s transmission network construction, its Core Network’s bandwidth resource is already very intense. Reliance is confronted with the challenge of finding a way to make full use of its backbone network’s bandwidth resource efficiently.

At present, Reliance has established thousands of CDMA base nations widely in India stand with GSM base system. How to incorporate these base stations and BSC systems completely and systematically and connect to NNOC located in Mumbai is a challenge that Reliance confronts. Since the previous transmission systematic system of Reliance hardly support MSTP function (Ethernet business), its management and monitoring information deliver to pass through E1 passageway completely.

 Huahuan DS0 solution for Reliance backbone network:












As picture shows, the base station and its base station controller’s monitoring information first enter end router( such as Cisco router) that lies far away, these remote routers transmit the information to a nearby access point of Reliance transmission network through E1 interface. The bandwidth of its E1 used is not the time slot of entire E1 (31 time slots of 1 E1), but only occupy partial of them ( such as one time slot of 64kbps or some time slots of 64kbps). Its transmission network is composed of Nortel’s transmission unit. The Nortel equipment of transmission network gathers BTS or BSC information from different remote nets and pools together into optical interface of Nortel unit which is connecting with Huahuan grooming unit.

 Huahuan grooming unit H9MO-LMFIT is the flexible type equipment of SDH/MSTP series. It supports VC12 with DS0 the overlapping connection. If every far end node adopts one time slot of 64k, H9MO-LMFIT can handle with 60 far end nodes to 2 E1s( VC12). Nortel transmission equipment will gather this handled E1s and transport them to NNOC (National Network Operation Center) at Mumbai through backbone SDH networks. As a result, instead of 60, 2 E1 channels would be enough to transmit 60 BTS&BSC monitoring information. Its bandwidth has been saved to be as high as 29/30=96.7%. This is absolutely good news for the gradually intense bandwidth of transmission network of Reliance.

Huahuan helped Reliance reduce its comprehensive construction cost and operation cost greatly, promoted its market competitive advantage.
